The Junior room seen busy celebrating their recent success in the Moo Crew competition where we scooped the Junior category county winners prize. We submitted a cheese project in April, which was deemed worthy of winning the county prize. For our efforts we received a €100 sports voucher and a certificate. There were winners all
We spent a very enjoyable day learning new cycling skills in the Ballydehob community park recently. Under the watchful eye of Cyclesense, the pupils spent 3 hours alternating between 3 stations acquiring new skills and getting comfortable with road safety. We collected samples of wildflowers ( from Rev Steve’s garden!!) and the heritage worker identified them for us. We caught and identified leeches, mayflies, flatworms, invaded and cased caddis. April 2017 brought with it another active week for all the students at St. Matthias. Maths trails, basketball Maths, Zumba, circuits, yoga and a walk to the local playground all featured in this year’s calendar. The Junior room visited Gubbeen farm on the day of our Easter holidays. We heard all about the story of cheese, petted new calves and bonhams followed by a picnic on the lawn dining on lots of delicious cheese and chorizo. When we arrived back at school it was just in time for our annual
Last Friday marked the end of a very enjoyable 6 week yoga course with Lisa at the school. The pupils enjoyed being flexible and performing some seriously impressive poses. On the Friday of the May bank holiday some visiting jazz performers visited the school to kickstart the Ballydehob Jazz Festival. It was wonderful to hear
