Chairman of the Board of Management, Stephen is Rector of the Ballydehob Union of Parishes – including the churches of Saint Matthias in Ballydehob and Saint Matthew in Aughadown.

Ian HASELDINE, Headmaster

Committed, dedicated and progressive in his approach to education, not least in his embrace of modern teaching methods, Ian’s day-to-day responsibilities as headmaster ensure that educational matters are always to the fore in the Board’s considerations.

Susie HALL

As a teacher at second level for 41 years, Susie has a lifetime’s experience of the world of education. She has served on school Boards of Management for 38 years at primary and second level. Former President of the Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland, Susie is now Secretary of the Retired Secondary Teachers Association and practises as a qualified workplace and family Mediator.

Margaret SKUCE

Margaret holds the position of Community Representative. A past-pupil of St. Matthias, she completed her third level education at C.I.T and U.C.C. With an MSc in Biomedical Science, she is currently a Medical Scientist at Bantry General Hospital.

William BARRY

Expert in financial management, Billy brings his very considerable accountancy and business management skills to the Board. He currently lectures in Business Studies, Mathematics and Irish – disciplines to which St. Matthias School is fortunate to have access.

Fiona WALSH, Parent

Parents’ Representative Fiona has a background in art and music. She studied fine art and ran classes and art camps for children for many years. She taught music in schools and has also worked in theatre. Both of her children are at St.Matthias, and she says that she loves the school, and loves being involved and helping out as much as she can.

Ewan ROBB, Parent

Parents’ Representative Ewan has 3 children currently enrolled in the school. He works in healthcare and community services, particularly in the area of disability and special needs, and believes strongly in children having a safe, structured, and inclusive environment in which to learn.
