Ian HASELDINE, Headmaster

Committed, dedicated and progressive in his approach to education, not least in his embrace of modern teaching methods, Ian’s day-to-day responsibilities as headmaster ensure that educational matters are always to the fore in the Board’s considerations.

Margaret CONNOLLY, Teacher

Margaret has been involved in the school for the past fourteen years and is well known to parents and pupils alike. Amongst Margaret’s more colourful appointments was a two-year stint in South Korea working as an English language teacher.

Raymond RUTTLE, Teacher

Raymond grew up in Limerick and studied primary school teaching in Dublin where he taught for 3 years. Raymond changed jobs when he got married and moved to West Cork and worked with children and young people. Coming back into teaching profession, Raymond has worked as a classroom teacher and special education teacher for the last number of years. He enjoys being able to teach children something new and seeing them use their talents and skills in their own way so that they can reach their full potential.

SNA Aoife Fitzpatrick

Aoife FITZPATRICK, Special Needs Assistant

From Rossmore and resident in Carrigfadda, Reenascreena, Aoife brings vast experience to her role at St. Matthias having had a 13-years career as SNA at Kilmeen NS and as Camp Leader and Home Support Worker with Co-Action.

Kate CRONIN, Special Needs Assistant

From Czech Republic, Kate has been living in Ireland for over 9 years. Kate started as a pre-school worker in Cork city and eventually became a Special Needs Assistant in our school in 2019. She enjoys traveling and cooking. She has been cooking the hot meals for our school for the past 4 years.  

Laura HUNT, School Secretary

Having completed her degree in English & Spanish in UCC, Laura moved to Madrid to teach English. Returning to UCC to complete HDip in Social Policy, Laura spent number of years working with Co-Action in Children Services. Since having her own children, Laura moved back to her home in Ballydehob, where she enjoys beach walks, reading and pilates when she’s not running the school office!
