Congratulations to the Senior Class at St Matthias NS who took the Bebras Challenge.
The Bebras challenge is a worldwide, computer based maths problem solving test for children. The contests are composed of a set of short questions called Bebras tasks. These tasks can be answered without prior knowledge about Informatics, but are clearly related to Informatics concepts. To solve those tasks, pupils are required to think in and about information, discrete structures, computation, data processing, but they also must use algorithmic concepts. Each Bebras task can both demonstrate an aspect of Informatics and test the talent of the participant, regarding Informatics.
Out of the ST Matthias senior room one child scored in the top one percentile of the 750,000 children who took the test. Three children scored within the top 26 Percentile, six children scored within the top 36 percentile, and the remaining six pupils scored above average.
