May brought a very special visitor to St. Matthias NS. Bishop Paul Colton and his wife Susan visited our school as part of his silver jubilee celebrations of 2024. The school made some lovely art displays to welcome the Bishop. The students were full of chat and talked eagerly about their interests and observations. We presented Bishop Colton with a Manchester Utd present because we found out he was an avid fan and a lovely illustrated card ! Rev. Steve Mc Cann also came into our classrooms and enjoyed cake and chats with our guests. St. Matthias NS would like to wish Bishop Colton a continued joyful jubilee journey in the Church of Ireland, in Cork, Cloyne and Ross.
On the same morning, we also welcomed a Finnish music group who entertained everyone with very lively tunes coupled with some impressive dance skills. The children absolutely loved getting into the swing of things by dancing together to celebrate the start of the May Bank Holiday Ballydehob Jazz festival
