These are some lovely pictures of a very busy start to the new school year here at St. Matthias NS. We have concentrated on all sorts of play in the Junior room. Water play, sensory play, messy play and of course outdoor play. The water beads were a huge hit and the children had so much fun pouring them through our various sized funnels, scooping them up and feeling their squishy texture with their hands. Lots of fine motor activities were done with the new Junior Infants, who are settling in very well. Wherever we can we try to incorporate outdoor learning within our school day. Conkers & pine cones we collected proved an excellent resource for our Maths classes. Old bottle tops were used alongside natural artefacts for our art classes and also for our many sorting activities in Maths. We also enjoyed Autumn nature walks and collected some beautiful leaves for more art fun!
